Anwar: No issue with Rafizi taking leave

BANTING: Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s decision to go on leave should not be made an issue, says the Prime Minister.

Describing the request for leave as normal, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he too is looking for a suitable time to take leave.

He also clarified that Rafizi has taken a few days’ leave and not a long break as claimed.

“(Rafizi’s leave is) Only a few days. Let him (take leave),” he told reporters when met at Bandar Saujana Putra mosque after Friday prayers.

“No issue at all. I also want to find a few days off,” he added, Bernama reported.

The Prime Minister was asked about claims that Rafizi – who did not turn up for the Cabinet meeting this week – is reported to be on leave amid speculation that he has resigned.

The speculation has come about following news that many of those aligned with Rafizi, who is the PKR deputy president, lost the recent party elections.

A portal had quoted a minister as saying that the Prime Minister had informed the Cabinet that Rafizi had taken several days off.
