GEORGE TOWN: A 17-year-old student died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident with three other vehicles here.

Another motorcyclist is now being sought by police on suspicion of causing death through recklessness.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said in the 5.15pm Thursday (April 24) incident on Jalan Masjid Negeri, the victim was riding towards Gelugor from Batu Lanchang.

"Another motorcycle suddenly came from the left and hit the victim's motorcycle.

"As a result of the impact, the victim fell onto the road after brushing against a car on the right lane and was then hit by a small lorry on the left lane," he said in a statement on Friday (April 25).

ACP Rozak said the victim was rushed to Penang Hospital, but succumbed to serious injuries at 6.09pm Thursday.

The lorry and car drivers were unhurt, he added.

ACP Rozak said police have identified the motorcyclist believed to have caused the accident and will detain the suspect for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
