Sabah police hunting drug trafficking suspects

KOTA KINABALU: Police are on the hunt for six individuals suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities in Sandakan and Tawau.

The suspects, some of whom are foreign nationals, were last known to be residing in Sandakan, Menumbok and Pulau Sebatik, and are believed to be connected to active drug trafficking networks.

The individuals wanted are Julsani Julkipli, 36; Mohd Safuwan Yusop, 34; Mohd Nazri Ismail, 42; Nordin Laddie, 43; Mohd Khairul Nizam Syamsuddin, 32; and Harris Jamaun, 27.

Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Ahsmon Bajah has urged the public to assist in locating the suspects, stressing that community cooperation has been vital in solving similar cases in the past.

“I’m sure many of you, like us, want Sandakan to be a safer and better place,” he said at a press conference yesterday.

“If you love Sabah, and if you love Sandakan, please come forward and share any information with us.”

He also issued a strong warning against harbouring any of the suspects.

“Please, attempting to protect or shield these individuals will only harm the community,” he said.

To streamline tip-offs, the police have introduced a QR code system accessible via the Sandakan district police headquarter’s official social media channels, allowing the public to provide information to police quickly and anonymously.

Additionally, reports can be submitted through the nationwide Volunteer Smartphone Patrol app.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring Sandakan does not become a hub for narcotics operations.
