Brunei Sultan arrives to attend Raja of Perlis Silver Jubilee Royal Banquet


ALOR SETAR: The Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, arrived at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (LTSAH) here on Thursday (April 17) to attend the Royal Banquet held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, at Istana Arau in Perlis tonight.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his delegation arrived on a Royal Brunei Boeing 787-8 (BBJ) aircraft at 2.45pm.

The Sultan of Brunei was greeted by the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, along with the Tengku Syarif Bendahara of Perlis, Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Badaruddin Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.

Also present to welcome Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah was Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah then inspected a static guard of honour mounted by two officers and 26 personnel from the 6th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (6RAMD), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Camp, Jitra.

Based on the Perlis State Secretary's (SUK) Office's official Facebook post, the Tengku Syarif Bendahara of Perlis presented Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah with the instrument of invitation (Warkah Persilaan) for the Silver Jubilee celebrations at Istana Nurul Iman, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, on Jan 28.

The Royal Banquet, scheduled for 8pm on Thursday, was the main event for the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the 25th year of the reign of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin as the Raja of Perlis.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations wouldl continue until April next year, with other events like the national-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly 2025 from April 27 to May 2, the landmark opening of the Padang Besar Roundabout to be officiated by the Raja of Perlis on April 24, and the Royal Arts and Orchestra Performance in November. – Bernama
