FRIENDS and actors who have collaborated with Frankie Lee Sai Peng, 85, paid tribute to the award-winning veteran actor following his death on Friday.
Sin Chew Daily reported that Joanne Yew shared photos and videos of Lee during their road trip to promote the film The Journey in 2014.
“You brought warmth and kindness wherever you went. We’ll miss you so much, Uncle Frankie,” Yew said in her social media post.
Ben Andrew Pfeiffer also paid tribute to the actor.
“We had such an exceptional time filming and working together. A cheeky, forever youthful soul.
“The chemistry we shared carried off screen and into real life. He will be sorely missed.”
Lee, who played Uncle Chuan in The Journey, won Best Actor at the 27th Malaysia Film Festival, making him the first winner of Chinese descent in that category.
Director Matt Lai said Lee was a prop master for decades and was in his 70s when he was given the lead by The Journey director Chiu Keng Guan.
“He remains as the only Chinese actor to win Best Actor in the Malaysia Film Festival,” Lai said.
Today is the last day of Lee’s wake held at Nirvana Centre Shah Alam.

The 29-year-old shared her religious journey on Instagram with her 2.3 million followers, uploading photos and videos of herself in hijab.

In another post in Malay, Asakura expressed gratitude to Kuala Lumpur for the cherished memories.
Since her retirement from adult entertainment early this year, Asakura has deleted all her past photos and videos leaving only her current content in her Instagram account.
