RMAF mounts mercy flight to transport patient needing urgent treatment

KUANTAN: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) mounted a mercy flight Thursday morning to transport a patient from the Tekek Health Clinic in Pulau Tioman, Rompin, for urgent treatment at Hospital Tunku Ampuan Afzan in Kuantan.

In a statement, RMAF said that Rahim Shadan, 58, who was suffering from severe Pneumonia with Bronchospasm and Pulmonary Edema, was flown aboard a  No. 10 Squadron EC 725AP aircraft from Pulau Tioman at 11.26am, bound for Kuantan Air Base.

"The patient required immediate transfer to the hospital as he needed high oxygen support due to his condition. He arrived at the Kuantan Air Base at 12.38pm before being taken to HTAA by ambulance.

"The entire RMAF personnel pray that the patient’s treatment goes smoothly and that he makes a full recovery,” the statement read.

Despite encountering adverse weather conditions during the mission, RMAF said the crew successfully completed their task safely.

"This success demonstrates that RMAF officers, personnel, and assets remain on standby at all times to carry out any assigned operations, even as many Malaysians are still celebrating Hari Raya,” RMAF added. - Bernama
