Soldier seen punching female driver in viral video out on bail


PETALING JAYA: A man who punched a female driver in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, as seen in a viral video, has been released on bail.

Seremban OCPD Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the 35-year-old man, a soldier, was released on bail at around 6pm on Sunday (March 30).

Mohamad Hatta also said the police would complete its investigation as soon as possible.

"We are speeding things up. As this involves a public servant, we aim to solve it in two weeks," Mohamad Hatta told The Star.

The suspect was arrested at the Seremban police headquarters on Saturday to for investigations under Section 233 and 427 of the Penal Code.

"The man is said to have used force on the victim, 28, who suffered bruising to her right torso and swelling to the back of her head.

"The victim, who was driving her car was unable to avoid hitting the suspect's 34-year-old wife and seven-year-old daughter, who were crossing the road," said Hatta on Saturday (March 30).

He said the mother and the daughter suffered minor injuries and were taken to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital

A 22-second video which shows the suspect attacking the female driver went viral on social media.
