KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters after being questioned for over five hours.
Sinar Harian reported on Monday (March 24) that Ismail Sabri was seen leaving the location at around 3.04pm as part of investigations into allegations of corruption and money laundering against him.
He arrived at the headquarters at 9.54am in a black Toyota Vellfire, accompanied by a police patrol vehicle.
The process of recording his statement lasted about five hours.
While waving to the media, the former ninth Prime Minister wished everyone "Selamat Hari Raya."
This marks the sixth day he has appeared at the MACC headquarters to have his statement recorded.
When asked by media representatives if he would return on Tuesday, Ismail Sabri only responded with "Selamat Hari Raya."
According to sources, the process of recording his statements has been completed as of Monday (March 24).
However, he added, the process will resume, but no date has been set yet.
The Bera MP is being investigated over corruption and money laundering allegations related to the expenditure and procurement of funds for the promotion and publicity of the 'Keluarga Malaysia' programme during his tenure from August 2021 to November 2022.
The case is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
