KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry has posted a short video on social media showcasing the halal logos of Asean countries.
The one-minute and 16-second video highlights the halal certification logos from countries such as Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Malaysia's halal logo, which is described as a global benchmark, was given emphasis. It is recognised by more than 80 international halal bodies, including those in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, the European Union (EU), Japan, and South Korea.
The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) issues Malaysia's halal certification.
"Each certification undergoes an audit from raw materials to production, ensuring compliance with Shariah principles and hygiene," added Wisma Putra.
The ministry also stated that Jakim has yet to recognise halal logos from Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. – Bernama
