Perak Ramadan traders to face action if found price hiking

IPOH: Ramadan bazaar traders in Perak have been warned against hiking their prices or charging inconsistently to take advantage of customers.

State Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said that they had received two complaints from the public regarding inconsistent pricing and price hiking.

"The traders should be ethical, follow the rules and avoid taking advantage.

"We will investigate the complaints that we have received. If traders are found guilty, we will take action," he told the reporters after visiting Ipoh City Council (MBI) Madani Rahmah Sales at MBI headquarters on Friday (March 21).

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Bahrain was also present.

Separately, Kamalludin also said that the state has sufficient coconut supply for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

"We have not received any complaints regarding the lack of coconut supply. The supply is quite stable," he added.

Meanwhile, Rumaizi has called on the public to purchase their necessities at the Madani Rahmah Sale which is held in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations.

"We have cooperated with the ministry to organise this Madani Rahmah Sale.

"We would also like to welcome the public to buy their needed items as things are cheaper here than usual, " he added.
