Mimi Fly says sorry over controversial music video

SINGER Mimi Fly has apologised over the controversy involving her latest music video, for her song Serumpun, as she was criticised by some quarters for wearing inappropriate attire for a Hari Raya song, Berita Harian reported.

Mimi, whose real name is Shamimi Amalina Norhisham, admitted her mistake in a video post on Instagram.

“Since the music video was released, I have received a lot of feedback from fans and music listeners in Malaysia, and even the Federal Territories mufti.

“There have been positive comments, but there are also concerns that my artistic approach might be interpreted differently and strayed from its true intent.

“I acknowledge and accept my mistake,” Mimi said, adding that the video in question has since been taken down.

Mimi added that she had no intention of mocking anyone by wearing inappropriate attire in the music video.

“As a Malay, it is not my intention to insult religion and cultural customs. I will ensure every work I produce will always be accepted, of high quality, and provide deep meaning to everyone,” she said.
