Melaka named official venue for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 launch

MELAKA: Historic City is designated as the official venue for the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026).

Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim discussed and approved the decision to select Melaka.

"The launch of VMY2026 will coincide with the celebrations of World Tourism Day 2025 (WTD 2025) and the World Tourism Conference (WTC 2025), both of which are set to take place in September of this year.

"The Prime Minister has given the green light for the launch of VMY2026 to be held in conjunction with World Tourism Day 2025 this coming Sept," he said during the 2025 Melaka Tourism Industry Engagement Programme at a leading hotel here.

The event was officiated by the Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh on Thurs (March 20)

Tiong also called on all parties, particularly those in the tourism industry, to work together to promote VMY2026 both locally and internationally.

"I would like to invite everyone, including social media influencers, to help promote Malaysia as a top tourist destination.

"Most importantly, we must seize this opportunity to drive economic growth for the country," he added.
