KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 93,094 diploma graduates have been produced by Vocational Colleges to date, exceeding the Education Ministry target of 90,000 under the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said this achievement was complemented by a steady rise in graduate employability.
"The employability rate of vocational diploma graduates has shown continuous growth - 99.16% in 2022, 99.38% in 2023, and 99.91% for the 2024 cohort," he said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Negara on Wednesday (March 19).
He was responding to Senator Datuk Nelson W Angang, who had requested details on the outcomes of the ministry's education reform efforts.
Wong added that in terms of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), the ministry has introduced various measures to align TVET programmes with industry needs.
"These efforts include expanding TVET access to different student groups, such as allowing Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers to enrol in diploma programmes at Vocational Colleges," he said. - Bernama
