KOTA KINABALU: Severe riverbank erosion caused by floods is threatening tourist spots and agricultural areas in Kiulu, prompting assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai to call for urgent action.

Bangkuai has submitted a formal request to the Tuaran Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) to build protective structures in erosion-prone areas.

“The village development and security committee has raised serious concerns over increasing damage to local infrastructure, farmland and tourism sites,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 19).
