JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council will work with the police to manage traffic in the city centre, particularly around the Causeway, to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Johor Baru Mayor Datuk Mohd Haffiz Ahmad said the council had made extensive preparations to mitigate congestion and improve traffic dispersal during the festive season.

“This has become an annual initiative, especially during Hari Raya, as areas such as Bandar Baru Uda become increasingly crowded with shoppers preparing for the celebrations,” he said.

He was speaking to media after the Rewang Ramadan 2025 programme at Larkin Indoor Stadium on Wednesday (March 19).

Mohd Haffiz added that the council would also deploy its traffic wardens to ease congestion at key locations.

Mohd Haffiz said this when asked to comment on a viral social media post highlighting a two-hour traffic jam around Bandar Baru Uda.

He reassured the public that the council and the police had developed plans to alleviate congestion during the festive season.

“Traffic congestion, particularly around Bandar Baru Uda, is common every year, but we have solutions to improve traffic control and efficiency.

“For Hari Raya traffic control, the council will deploy officers on a rotational basis to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the celebration period,” he explained.
