THE public can now access a wide range of services under one roof following the reopening of Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) building in Jalan Dato’ Onn.
Johor Baru mayor Datuk Mohd Haffiz Ahmad said the refurbished facility housed the enforcement department, health department and MBJB court.
The MBJB one-stop counter, which serves as a centralised customer service hub, is also housed in the building, he said.
“The integrated service concept allows the public to complete multiple transactions at a single location instead of travelling between different offices.
“The goal is to provide a more conducive, customer-friendly environment and speed up service delivery,” he said when chairing the city council’s full board meeting.
The counter services include assessment tax payments, business licence applications, enforcement matters, premises rental, building, engineering and planning department transactions, One-Stop Centre (OSC) matters, parking services under ParkMaxx and public complaints.
Mohd Haffiz described it as part of MBJB’s efforts to improve service standards.
“The MBJB City Clinic has also begun operating on the first floor after relocating from the Jotic building.
“Besides providing healthcare services for MBJB staff, the clinic offers typhoid and meningococcal vaccinations, particularly for food handlers and others who require the immunisations.”
He said the MBJB court would begin holding hearings in October.
Mohd Haffiz said the upgraded MBJB building must be matched by efficient, customer-focused operations and urged departments to ensure clear directional signage and update information displays to prevent confusion among visitors.
He also reminded staff to remain professional, helpful and efficient when dealing with customers, as every interaction built public trust in the council.
The building was closed temporarily since Aug 6, 2023, for extensive upgrading works.
