26 items listed under Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme this season, says Domestic Trade Ministry

PUTRAJAYA: Starting Monday (March 24), a total of 26 controlled items will be included in the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme for the 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri Season, says Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

According to Armizan, this was an increase of four items compared to the 22 items gazetted under the same scheme in the previous year.

Armizan said the list now also includes Indian red onions (small), Indian red onions (rose), and coconut milk (santan), as the supply issues for these items have been resolved.

He said coconut milk would be priced at RM17.50 per kg in Peninsular Malaysia, RM12 per kg in Sabah, RM9 per kg in Sarawak and RM15 in Labuan.

He explained that coconut milk, grated coconut and coconuts are cheaper in Sabah and Sarawak because of domestic supplies there.

“The programme will begin on March 24 for 15 days, which is seven days before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a day during Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the first seven days of Syawal,” said Armizan during a press conference at a Ramadan Bazaar in Putrajaya on Wednesday (March 19).

Last year, items in the price scheme for Hari Raya Aidilfitri included local beef (except tenderloin), imported beef, imported buffalo meat, ikan kembung (mackerel), ikan selayang (sardine), ikan tongkol (albacore tuna) and ikan demuduk (bludger).

Also on the list are tomatoes, red chillies, imported round cabbage, long beans, cucumbers, sawi hijau (mustard leaf), imported old ginger, imported shallots, yellow onions, Chinese garlic, Indian red shallots, imported potatoes, dried chilli, peanuts, coconut and grated coconut.

Armizan said the prices of the 26 items would be displayed on the ministry’s website at www.kpdn.gov.my.

“I hope traders will abide by the rules.,” added Armizan.

At the same time, Armizan said Ops Pantau 2025 had been implemented since March to ensure traders’ compliance throughout Ramadan and the lead-up to Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“We welcome any complaints by consumers,” added Armizan.
