Membakut teen found dead in room at futsal court

KOTA KINABALU: A teenaged boy was found dead in a room at a futsal court in Membakut about 80kms from here.

Beaufort OCPD Supt Wong Leong Meng said that the 17-year-old was found in the room at about 9.30pm on Monday (Mar 18).

He said based on information gathered from the father, the victim was missing and they went to search for him about two hours after he left to go to pray at a nearby church.

Supt Wong said the victim's family members found him in the room at the futsal court, which was locked from the inside.

He said police found no criminal elements at the scene and have classified the case as a sudden death report.

"An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the death," he added.

He said the investigation was still ongoing and urged the public not to speculate.
