> The lemang in Kampung Lepan Jenut in Kelantan is renowned throughout the state, and the glutinous rice delicacy has supported three generations of a family in the village, reported Harian Metro.
“I have been selling lemang for more than 30 years. Now my children, sons-in-law and grandchildren continue the tradition using our family’s secret recipe,” said matriarch Bainah Awang Long, 69.
“We sell lemang year-round, not just during Hari Raya,” said Bainah, when met at her shop in Manek Urai, Kuala Krai.
She claims to be the pioneer lemang seller in Kampung Lepan Jenut, earning it the nickname “Kampung Lemang” due to its numerous lemang stalls.
“The lemang in Kampung Lepan Jenut is very well known not only among the Kelantanese, but to those from other states and travellers along the Kuala Krai-Gua Musang highway,” said Bainah’s daughter, Sariwati Yaacob, 48.
