MELAKA: The Melaka government has approved an allocation of RM8mil to conduct repairs to 13 health clinics in the state this year.
State Health, Human Resource and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem said the clinics, including those in Ujong Pasir and Jalan Gereja, Banda Hilir, needed repairs.
"We have visited all the clinics and found the environment and facilities there required improvements as soon as possible to ensure the comfort of patients seeking treatment.
"We also found facilities there less than satisfactory… this not only affects the comfort of patients but also staff working there," he said on Sunday (March 16) after a state-level bubur lambuk programme that Duyong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem attended.
Ngwe said that the repair project was at the tender stage and would be implemented after the tender was awarded.
"We hope that the process will not take a long time as the repairs need to be done immediately as there are clinics that have air conditioners that don't function, lack of waiting areas and walkways that can be slippery during rain.
"We at the state health department are very grateful to the federal government for the approval given," he added. – Bernama
