Kundasang fire destroys grocery shops, homestays

KUNDASANG: A fire has reduced seven premises to ashes here, including grocery shops and homestays, on Thursday night (March 13), but no casualties were reported.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said 15 firemen from the Ranau station, with assistance from the police, Civil Defence Force, and Sabah Electricity, put out the blaze after receiving an emergency call at 8.37pm.

It said the fire destroyed three grocery shops, two homestays, an 11-door rental block, and a storage for grocery items, all of which were non-permanent structures.

"All premises were completely destroyed," it said in a statement Friday.

It added that the cause of the fire and damage had yet to be ascertained. - Bernama
