Immigration raids two unlicensed cosmetic surgery clinics run by foreigners

KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department here has detained nine foreigners in a raid on two unlicensed clinics led by foreign doctors in Desa Petaling and Bukit Jalil, believed to be conducting cosmetic surgery procedures.

City Immigration director Wan Mohamed Saupee Wan Yusoff said during the 11am raids, they also arrested a local man and woman acting as agents for the clinic.

"The two locals and the foreign nationals from Vietnam, comprising seven men and two women, were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration office in Jalan Duta for documentation," he said.

Also present during the raid were officers and enforcement members from the Kuala Lumpur Health Department.

Wan Mohamed added that the locals acting as agents for the clinic were given a commission of between 5% and 10% of the fees.

Among the cosmetic surgeries offered were for eyelids, noses and facelifts.

Services offered ranged from RM1,000 to RM15,000, for the male "doctor" from Vietnam who allegedly does not have a license to practice in Malaysia.

The agents also promoted the cosmetic surgery services on social media.
