Unpaid footballer resorts to selling drinks

AFTER enduring eight months without pay, footballer Mohammad Gopi Rizqi, 36, has taken to selling drinks outside his home during the month of fasting.

He and his wife, Nor Hidayah Roslan, 38, decided to start a small business after his salary was delayed for several months, according to Utusan Malaysia.

“We made the move to sell drinks, like air mata kucing, air jagung and some food like kuih-muih and popiah carbonara,” he said when met outside his house at Kampung Api-Api in Pontian, Johor.

Mohammad Gopi once wore the jerseys of Sri Pahang FC, Selangor FC, Johor Darul Takzim, Melaka United and Polis DiRaja Malaysia.

He said he did not realise that a photograph of him selling drinks had gone viral.

“Many fans came to my stall to take photographs with me,” he added.

Mohammad Gopi also said that he wants to share his skills with schoolchildren around Pontian.

> Actress and singer Elizabeth Tan, who suffered two miscarriages, is putting all her emotions into her character in Wantugo.

In the movie, Tan plays Isabelle, who is five months’ pregnant and tries to keep her baby safe.

“The role is quite heavy as she is pregnant, and my character is the most emotional,” she told Kosmo!.

To prepare for the role, Tan said she watched movies with pregnant characters to learn their body language and how they speak.

Tan said she wants to challenge herself by accepting the role and stepping away from cliche roles that she often played before.

“I hope my acting is accepted, as I’ve never experienced being five months’ pregnant,” she added.

Wantugo also stars Zul Ariffin, Sky Iskandar, Ucop and Sein Qudsi, among others.
