Jilted ex-girlfriend kidnaps Sri Lankan man in Gelang Patah

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A dispute between lovers took a sinister turn when a Sri Lankan man was allegedly abducted by his girlfriend and three others, leading to his transport to Selangor.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan reported that a police report was filed by the victim's employer on Feb 28 regarding the 26-year-old, who works at a car wash in Gelang Patah.

"The victim’s employer, a 42-year-old local man, lodged a police report stating that his employee was taken away at around 9am on the same day," he said.

Following information gathered, a police team tracked down the suspects and arrested them in Kuala Selangor and Bestari Jaya, Selangor.

The suspects, comprising two men and two women, all locals aged between 18 and 37, tested negative for drugs.

"Early investigations revealed that the victim was in a relationship with one of the female suspects but had left her. This allegedly led her to abduct him with the help of the other suspects," ACP Kumarasan explained, noting that one of the suspects had a prior criminal record.

All four suspects were remanded for seven days, from March 1 to 7.

"The two female suspects were later released on police bail, while the two male suspects were charged on March 7 under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping or abducting a person," he said.

Both suspects claimed trial and were granted bail ranging from RM1,000 to RM3,500 each, with the case set for mention on March 27.
