Apology accepted but action must be taken, says Malaysia Hindu Sangam on Era FM DJs

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) says it accepts the apology from three Era FM radio announcers over their actions but said action must still be taken against those responsible.

"Despite the apology, accountability remains necessary.

"An apology alone does not absolve individuals from the consequences of their actions," MHS said in a statement on Thursday (March 6).

MHS, calling for action by authorities to serve as a lesson to all, said that incidents of such nature should not be taken lightly as these threaten the harmony and mutual respect that form the foundation of Malaysia's diverse society.

MHS added that it was aware investigations are ongoing by authorities under relevant legal provisions.

"MHS also calls on all media personalities and content creators to exercise greater awareness and sensitivity when addressing religious and cultural matters," it added.

It was earlier reported that police have completed their probe into the issue and the investigation paper has been referred to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was reported saying that 73 police reports were lodged in connection with the case.
