KOTA KINABALU: Parti KDM leaders have vowed to continue their struggle in the coming Sabah election after their president Datuk Peter Anthony was jailed for three years on Tuesday (March 4).
KDM deputy president Datuk Wetrom Bahanda said supporters and leaders of the party were "quite disappointed" by the Court of Appeal decision upholding Peter's conviction for forgery, but it did not mean their struggle was over.

"We are determined to continue more enthusiastically for the (sake) of the people and Sabah's future," said Wetrom, who is widely tipped to take the reins as acting president.
"Not once will we even take a step back. We will continue... all the plans made by the president (for) the 17th State Election due this year," said the Kota Marudu MP and Bandau assemblyman.
"I also call on all our supporters throughout the state to continue to give solid support to KDM.
"We will continue to face any obstacles and challenges... for the sake of this country we love," Wetrom said in a statement.

He said the KDM supreme council would meet soon to discuss their next steps.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Court of Appeal upheld a Sessions Court decision to sentence Melalap assemblyman Peter to three years' jail and fine him RM50,000 for document falsification involving a 2014 maintenance contract for Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
It was the last appeal for the former Sabah infrastructure development minister, whose imprisonment took immediate effect.
KDM has declared that it will contest the coming state elections on its own.
