MACC detains reporter over corruption case

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a journalist from a local portal to assist in the investigation of a corruption case on Friday.

MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, said the arrest was made at a hotel in Shah Alam around 11pm.

"The detention is related to allegations of corruption, not concerning a news report exposing issues related to undocumented foreign workers ," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Saturday (March 1).

It is understood that the male reporter was brought to the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court on Saturday for a remand process. The investigation is being conducted under the MACC Act 2009.
