782 MM2H passes approved under new policy, says Tiong

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 782 Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H)passes have been approved under the new policy, including 319 for principal applicants and 463 for dependents, says the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

Its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said that the total approval for MM2H pass holders was 58,468 comprising 28,528 principal applicants and 29,940 dependents.

“Based on the number of MM2H passes approved under these new conditions, the government is estimated to receive investment value from fixed deposit accounts worth RM233.8mil (US$51.9mil) and real estate investment totalling RM222mil,” he said in a written parliamentary response to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera) who asked the ministry to state the total number of MM2H pass holders and the number of new applications submitted on Monday (Feb 24).

The most sought after category is silver with 260 principal applicants, followed by 43 applicants, then the gold category at nine applicants and seven applicants under the platinum category, he added.

Last year, on June 14, Tiong announced a new three-tier category for MM2H applicants – Platinum, Gold and Silver.

The Platinum category requires a fixed deposit of US$1mil, the Gold category US$500,000, and the Silver category US$150,000, along with a property purchase of at least RM600,000.
