Two killed in multi-vehicle accident on Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang

KLUANG: A man and a woman lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a car and four motorcycles on Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang early this morning.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh reported that the police received information about the accident at approximately 1.13am on Sunday (Feb 23).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the collision occurred around 12.45am at KM84 of the highway.

An MPV was travelling from Kluang towards Kota Tinggi, while four motorcycles—a Yamaha 135LC, a Nouvo LC, a Yamaha Y15ZR, and an SM Sport 110R—were heading in the opposite direction towards Kluang.

At the crash site, the Yamaha 135LC veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Nissan Serena.

Meanwhile, the Nouvo LC was grazed by an unidentified motorcycle from the same direction, causing the rider to lose control and crash into the right lane.

ACP Bahrin added that the proximity of the Yamaha Y15ZR to the Nouvo LC led to a secondary collision, while the SM Sport 110R, in an attempt to avoid the crash, skidded and fell onto the road.

As a result of the collision, the Yamaha 135LC rider sustained severe injuries to the body and head, while the Nouvo LC rider suffered critical head injuries from the fall. Both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The Yamaha 135LC rider is identified as Arif Zaidi Zainurrizam, 20, while the Nouvo LC rider is Nur Azreen Najwa Roslan, 25.

The accident is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
