Man tries to end life after allegedly killing wife in Kajang home, says Kajang OCPD


KAJANG: A 65-year-old man attempted to take his own life after allegedly murdering his wife at their home in Bandar Sungai Long.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the couple’s 35-year-old son alerted the police after his father attempted to slit his wrist, believed to be after killing his 63-year-old mother at about 5.32am on Thursday (Feb 20).

“Police officers were dispatched to the scene, where they found the female victim lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom.

“We also seized the knife believed to have been used in the incident, along with other evidence,” he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 21).

The suspect, the victim’s husband, has been remanded until Thursday (Feb 27).

“We believe the suspect was under emotional distress due to issues with his business venture and his wife’s illness,” ACP Naazron said.

The couple had been married for 35 years, and the suspect had been running his business for 25 years, which is believed to have been struggling due to financial troubles.

A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as suffocation, he added.Authorities urge anyone with information on the case to contact investigating officer Asst Supt R.K. Umesh at 012-6114900 or the nearest police station.

ACP Naazron also advised the public to be mindful of family members or loved ones experiencing emotional distress or marital problems.“Support and counselling services are available through Talian Kasih 15999 or from certified counsellors,” he said.
