Loke: Logistics sector should make use of tax exemption

PETALING JAYA: The logistics industry should take advantage of tax exemption initiatives by the government to promote the implementation of Industry 4.0 technology and strengthen the sector, says the Transport Minister.

Anthony Loke said tax cuts such as income tax exemption for smart logistics complexes was designed to drive smarter and more efficient operations in warehousing and logistics.

“By integrating automation, data analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, we are not just optimising supply chain performance but also positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in smart logistics innovation,” he said during the launch of Ninja Van Malaysia’s new Ninja Cold temperature controlled logistics solution in Subang yesterday.

Loke said as industries continue to evolve, the logistics sector must rise to meet new challenges, especially in critical areas such as pharmaceuticals, food safety and sustainability.

The firm is the first logistics company in the country to receive the ISO 23412 certification, the Japanese standard for cold chain handling.

Loke said looking ahead, the future of the national logistics industry looked to be full of opportunities.

“With increasing digitalisation and adoption of green technologies, we stand at the threshold of a new era,” he declared.

Loke said Ninja Van’s partnership with diverse industries showed how logistics providers could play a pivotal role in enabling businesses to grow, expand into new markets and contribute to economic development.

“Services like Ninja Cold will not only cater to current needs but also pave the way for future advancements, enabling Malaysia to remain competitive on the global stage,” he added.

Loke said the Ninja Cold initiative aligned with Malaysia’s strategic vision for its current Asean chairmanship, with the country positioning itself as a central logistics hub in Southeast Asia.

“Through innovations like Ninja Cold, Ninja Van Malaysia contributes to enhancing regional connectivity, streamlining supply chains and fostering cross-border trade within Asean.

“Our ongoing efforts to modernise logistics infrastructure are reflected in the firm’s initiatives which focus on reducing costs, improving efficiency and prioritising environmental sustainability.

“These shared objectives highlight the synergy between the ministry’s vision for a robust logistics ecosystem and Ninja Van Malaysia’s commitment to innovative solutions,” he added.
