Eleven stranded at Lata Perangin safely rescued


IPOH: Eleven people were stranded at Lata Perangin, Muallim, Tanjung Malim while engaging in hiking and swimming activities.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad reported receiving a distress call about the incident at 6.15pm today (Feb 15).

"The victims, believed to be family and friends, were unable to cross the river due to strong currents while trying to return from their activity. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 6.54pm and saw the victims attempting to cross the river.

"They managed to successfully do so safely. The rescue team then escorted them down," he said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 15).

Sabarodzi added that none of the victims were injured. The group comprised two 10-year-olds, a 14-year-old, a 16-year-old, four more teenagers, and three adults.

He noted that the operation concluded at 7.37pm.
