A TUITION teacher lost RM886,000 to a fraudulent investment scheme, Berita Harian reported.
Pontian deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Abdul Hamid Abdul Rahaman said the 43-year-old victim was lured into investing in the Trus Wallet scheme last year by someone she got to know on social media.
He added that the victim was promised high returns and that her investment would multiply based on the amount poured in.
Attracted by the lucrative offer, the victim deposited RM886,000 into various bank accounts provided by the suspect in 30 transactions.
He said the victim only realised she had been deceived after failing to withdraw her capital.
> Comedian Shuib, whose real name is Shahmira Muhamad, had candidly said he was shouldering business-related debts amounting to millions of ringgit, Kosmo! reported.
These financial obligations stem from his entrepreneurial ventures and liabilities to government agencies, he said.
“My debts are primarily business-related, including obligations to government bodies such as the Customs, the Social Security Organisation, taxes and other business-associated commitments,” said the 40-year-old.
He said the associated risks and challenges grew as his businesses expanded.
Despite these hurdles, Shuib said he believed that with improved management and strategic planning, he could navigate these financial challenges effectively.
