Seremban police chase ends in arrest of unlicensed driver

SEREMBAN: A man is now in trouble with the law after taking his girlfriend for a spin in a company pickup truck without a driving license.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said police on routine patrol rounds spotted the pair in Garden Avenue here on Sunday evening (Feb 9).

"They were sitting in the car by the roadside when the cops approached them.

"The man panicked because he did not have a driving license and was alone in the vehicle with his girlfriend, he sped off," he added.

ACP Mohamad Hatta said the cops gave chase and managed to stop the vehicle a short distance away.

"In his attempt to escape, the man drove dangerously and even tried to run the cops off the road," he said.

An eight-second clip of the couple being detained has since gone viral on social media.

The case is being probed under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties.

Offenders can be jailed up to two years or fined up to RM10,000 or both upon conviction.
