PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will soon deploy its officers as Heads of Integrity Units across all ministries, announced Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.
The deployment will occur in stages, following approval from the Governance Committee (JTK) chaired by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
"This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by ministries in managing governance issues when the heads of their integrity units are not MACC officers. MACC officers assigned to ministries will be recognised integrity officers with the relevant certifications," Azam stated during a press conference at MACC headquarters on Thursday (Feb 6).
Additionally, Azam reported that 62 local authorities have already established their own integrity units, while another 84 have appointed integrity liaison officers.
Regarding governance investigations, he revealed that the MACC opened 107 investigation papers last year, with 69 recommendations for improvements submitted to relevant parties.
During the same press conference, Azam launched the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Dashboard, allowing the public to monitor the progress of each sub-strategy under the responsibility of all 19 Lead Agencies involved in NACS.
"This dashboard enables the public to track completed sub-strategies under NACS, providing summaries and insights into their effectiveness, whether through research findings, policies, or legal aspects," he added.
