Flood victims in Kota Tinggi increase to 364

KOTA TINGGI: The number of flood victims here continues to rise as rains persist and water levels remain high in affected areas.

As of 8pm on Wednesday (Feb 5), a total of 364 people from 106 families were seeking shelter at three relief centres located at Dewan Muafakat Taman Desaru, Dewan Kampung Baru Sungai Mas and SK Bandar Penawar.

They were evacuated from Taman Desaru Utama, Kampung Baru Sungai Mas and Taman Penawar Harmoni.

Penawar assemblyman Fauziah Misri said all the victims received food and tents at the centres.

“The heavy rainfall and high tide have inundated some areas but so far, everything is under control,” she added.
