KUALA LUMPUR: The economic pie to be used for the country’s development will cover all layers of society, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The whole government machinery will ensure this reaches all quarters, including smallholders, farmers, fishermen and agricultural industry players, as well as food supply chains,” Anwar said in a statement following His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia’s royal address in Parliament yesterday.

His Majesty lauded the nation’s economic progress but called for its benefits to be enjoyed by all people and not just certain groups.Sultan Ibrahim also said the government should enhance the use of digital technology by strengthening infrastructure, the digital economy and cybersecurity.To this, Anwar said it will revolutionise the government’s service and delivery systems, once fully implemented.
“We pray that our beloved country will continue to be peaceful, prosperous and competitive throughout His Majesty’s reign,” he added.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed his gratitude to the King for His Majesty’s attention on the government’s efforts to produce a highly-skilled labour force by empowering the educational system and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training).“God willing, efforts to empower TVET will continue being upheld as a national agenda, in line with His Majesty’s intention,” he said.
He noted the importance of preserving the country’s stability by ensuring Parliament functions as a check and balance towards the country’s administration.
“His Majesty also called on MPs to promote unity and not be an agent of division. We will uphold this,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also chairman of the Cabinet special committee on Visit Malaysia 2026, said more efforts will be taken to promote Malaysian cultures and values on the global stage and encourage tourism opportunities.
On the King’s emphasis on the role of MPs in uniting the people, MCA president and Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the party will remain steadfast as a bridge of goodwill, fostering harmony within Malaysian society.
“This is a principle I have always upheld,” Dr Wee said in a statement.
“As an MP and MCA president, I will continue to play my role in serving the people and safeguarding the interests of the nation.”
