KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has ruled that the issue of the addendum should not be raised during debates in the august hall.
Johari made his ruling after heated exchanges from both sides of the floor. The Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin (PN-Larut), raised the issue during debates and accused the Prime Minister of treason for his silence.

“This is my ruling, owing to Standing Order 36(2), which deals with matters in court and Standing Order 36(7) over the use of the word ‘treason’, I disallow both.
“Please move on to the other things,” said Johari.
During his debate, Hamzah said that the government’s move to hide the addendum order allegedly was “an act of treason” against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“The point is that if someone hides a royal decree, he has acted treason against the King and the country,” he said.

The Dewan Rakyat erupted following the statement made by Hamzah.
Before Johari made the ruling, the Speaker said that the matter should be left to the court.
“You (Hamzah) have made your point, it’s enough. Move on to other issues,” he said.
However, Hamzah again incited similar arguments on the addendum, leading to another shouting match in the Dewan Rakyat.
