Be proactive in empowering agro-food sector, King tells govt in royal address

KUALA LUMPUR: The agricultural sector and its players must be empowered, says His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

His Majesty urged the government to be proactive in helping smallholders, farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen across the commodity and food supply chain.

“The agenda to empower the bumiputra economy through cooperation and support from government companies must continue to be implemented,” His Majesty said in his royal address when opening the First Meeting of the 4th Term of the 15th Parliament here on Monday (Feb 3).

The King also called on the government to ensure housing opportunities for every citizen.

“The government must remain committed to giving every citizen the chance to own an affordable residence.

“The provision of basic infrastructure, health facilities and education should continue to be improved,” His Majesty added.
