Petrol company hosts CNY open house, donates RM1mil to various causes


KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands attended a Chinese New Year open house hosted by Five Petroleum Malaysia, underscoring the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility and community empowerment.

A highlight of the event was a RM1mil donation to various educational, charity, sports, and religious organisations.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Education Foundation received RM500,000, supporting higher education and nurturing future Malaysian talents.

Founder and CEO Datuk Seri Dr King Lim Chin Fui emphasized the role of corporations in nation-building.

"We believe that success must be shared and growth must be inclusive. Our commitment extends far beyond business," he said on Saturday (Feb 1).

The event's guest of honour was Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Other notable guests included MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ilham Tuah IIlias, Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Karomidin Gadoev, former MCA ministers Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Tan Sri Chua Soi Lek, social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, and top police officers Johor CPO Datuk M. Kumar, Melaka CPO Datuk Md Nazri Zawawi, and Negri Sembilan CPO Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof.

Lim, also president of the Malaysia-Uzbekistan Business Alliance and vice chairman of the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF), noted the open house as a platform to showcase the country's diversity and usher in the Year of the Snake.

"The open house affirms our commitment to fostering diplomatic relations, driving economic growth, and championing social progress," he said.

He emphasized expanding Malaysia’s trade with the global market, highlighting strategic collaborations with Uzbekistan.

"The strategic collaboration between Malaysia as the new Asean Chair and Uzbekistan is crucial for stronger economic ties. The upcoming visit of Uzbekistan's president to Malaysia is expected to bring significant announcements," Lim added.

Five Petroleum aims to enhance its role in the energy sector by collaborating with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries through Uzbekistan, reinforcing its commitment to international partnerships and sustainable growth.
