SIX people involved in the kidnapping of an inter-caste couple in Tamil Nadu, including the wife’s parents, have been arrested, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Thanush Kandan met and fell in love with Roshni at their workplace. The couple, who got married in secret in July last year, sought protection from police as the girl’s family was against their relationship.
At the time, the police determined that it was a consensual marriage.
Since then, the couple has been living in Thanush Kandan’s family home.
Several days ago, a group of men armed with knives and other weapons raided the home and kidnapped the girl.
They also threatened to attack the husband and neighbours who tried to help. It was quickly established that the girl’s family was behind the abduction.
Her parents, brother, sister and two relatives were arrested.
The quick action by the police resulted in Roshni being rescued safely and reunited with her husband.
