Road users warned of two crosswind sites along NSE in Negri

NILAI: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has advised road users to exercise caution at two crosswind locations on the North-South Expressway (NSE) in Negri Sembilan.

State assistant Fire Safety Division director senior fire officer II Mohamed Faiz Muin Mohamed Rasidi said the two locations situated are from KM222 at the Melaka border until Hentian Senawang, and KM267 from Ainsdale to Seri Putera.

"Both these locations are accident hotspots owing to, among others, the crosswinds and negligence on the part of road users.

"As such, motorists must always be cautious and alert while driving, particularly during the festive season as more vehicles will be on the road,” he said after the launch of the state-level Public Awareness and Safety Campaign for Chinese New Year here on Friday (Jan 24).

He also said that 150 personnel and 26 vehicles as well as three emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) vans will be on standby in conjunction with the Jan 28-Feb 2 Ops Siaga Raya.

He said one of the vehicles will be stationed at the Pedas toll plaza while the state Bomba's rapid intervention motorcycle unit will patrol the highway up to Nilai to ensure that the traffic situation is under control.

He advised those going back to their hometowns and leaving their homes for long periods to turn off all electric switches that are not in use.

"Before you leave your home, check all fire hazards, especially the main switches for lights, fans and water filters to avoid any unwanted incidents,” he said. – Bernama
