MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms in multiple states until 9pm on Jan 24


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) is warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in most parts of the country until 9pm on Friday (Jan 24).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the states affected are Perlis; Kedah; Penang; Perak; Kelantan; Terengganu (Besut, Setiu and Hulu Terengganu); Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Bera and Rompin); Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya; Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah and Jempol); and Johor (Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru).

In Sarawak, the areas affected are Kuching; Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya); Sarikei (Julau and Meradong); Sibu (Sibu and Kanowit); Mukah (Daro and Matu); Miri and Limbang.

In Sabah, adverse weather is expected in the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan); West Coast; Sandakan (Tongod and Beluran) and Kudat as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan.
