Three to be charged with murder of woman in Johor

JOHOR BARU: Three individuals including a woman will be charged at the Magistrate Court here on Wednesday morning (Jan 22) with murder, says Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar.

He added this comes after police have completed their investigation pertaining to a discovery of a woman's body inside a parked car at Taman Ungku Tun Aminah here on Dec 1, 2024, at around 6.30am.

“The victim, a local 42-year-old woman, was found with several stab wounds on her chest, face and arms. On Jan 11 this year, a special task force team arrested two men and a woman.

“The suspects, aged between 31 and 48 years, were arrested around Tampoi here and Setiawan in Perak,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 21) night.

Comm Kumar added further investigations carried out against the suspects led the police to seize a pair of scissors used to murder the victim as well as a pistol with 48 ball bearings at a residential area in Tampoi.

He said investigation papers have been forwarded to the state prosecution director's office and have received instruction to charge the suspects under Section 302 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 109 of the same Act.

“One of the three suspects faced two more additional charges, which is Section 201 of the Penal Code and Section 8(a) of the Weapons Act 1960,” he said.

Comm Kumar urged the public to refrain from making any speculations on the case that could affect the prosecution process while those with information on any criminal activities should contact the Johor police hotline number at 07-2212999.
