74-year-old tourist fatally injured by falling tree branch in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: A 74-year-old tourist from China died after a tree branch fell on him at the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) at Sepilok in Sandakan.

The man suffered an injury to his head in the Tuesday afternoon (Jan 21) incident.

He was rushed in an ambulance to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

In confirming the incident, Chief Conservator of Forests, Datuk Frederick Kugan said it was a calamity.

"This is a rather unfortunate incident beyond our control, and the Forestry Department sympathises with the family members.

"We will assist whatever is necessary in this time of difficulties," he said.
