WHAT started as mere curiosity about “blind boxes” quickly spiralled into a passionate hobby for a former engineer.

A “blind box” is a mystery box, and buyers would not know which series, style or colour of toy they will get.

Kosmo! Ahad reported that Nur Suhada Abu Zarin, 40, spent more than RM2,000 to purchase mystery boxes containing popular toys such as Labubu, CryBaby, Nommi, Skullpanda and Liila’s Lucky Cat.

“The first figure I bought was Liila’s Lucky Cat. At that time, I was curious about what was so interesting about blind boxes and their contents.

“Buyers were asked to choose a number and they would receive the items sent based on the number chosen without knowing the contents,” the homemaker said.

Nur Suhada said she soon found herself buying regularly, especially when participating or watching live sessions.

After getting hooked, she started uploading “unboxing” content on her collections on TikTok.

Nur Suhada said many buyers uploaded their unboxing sessions, and she was following in their footsteps.

Previously, it was reported that Soffea Dini Zulkifly, 19, had bought more than 50 Labubu figures and spent tens of thousands of ringgit for her collection.

> Veteran actress Aznah Hamid shared her experience acting alongside Tamil cinema legend Rajinikanth and Bollywood star Sridevi after several clips of the 1978 movie Priya recently went viral.

In the clips, Aznah, 64, seemingly spoke Tamil fluently – a skill she confessed she actually lacked, according to Harian Metro.

“I am not fluent in Tamil. I only memorised the dialogue.

“However, during the filming of that movie, there was an interpreter or production crew member who helped me memorise the dialogue according to the script.”

Besides Tamil, Aznah also had to speak in Kannada because the film was produced in two versions.

Aznah added that Rajinikanth was very professional.

“I was offered to act in the film when I was about 17 years old. I was comfortable working with him because he was open to discussions and receptive to ideas from young actors.

“He also treated me very well, like his sister throughout the filming in locations in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong,” she added.
