Duo nabbed after testing positive for drugs in Johor


KLUANG: Two men have been arrested after testing positive for drugs during a roadblock at KM58, Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing, here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the operation was conducted on Wednesday (Jan 15) and Thursday (Jan 16) by the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department and the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department.

“During the two-day operation, a total of 68 individuals and 61 vehicles were inspected, resulting in 53 summonses being issued for various traffic offences.

“Initial urine screenings were conducted on 32 individuals, and two local men, aged 26 and 29, who tested positive for methamphetamine.

“Both individuals have prior records involving drug-related cases, with two and four previous offences, respectively,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (Jan 18).

He added that both men are currently being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug abuse.

ACP Bahrin added that such operations will be conducted frequently to ensure road safety and to prevent undesirable accidents.
