Flood situation stabilises in Johor as evacuees return home


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood-affected districts in Johor remains at four, with conditions slowly improving as more residents are allowed to return home.

According to the Johor Disaster Management Committee, as of 8am on Wednesday (Jan 15), 1,097 victims from 329 families are being sheltered at 12 temporary relief centres (PPS).

"Kluang still leads with the highest number of evacuees, with 415 people, followed by Pontian with 354 people, Kota Tinggi with 275 people, and Johor Baru with 53 people.

"There are still 12 PPS in operation, with five in Pontian, three each in Kota Tinggi and Kluang, and one in Johor Baru," the committee stated.

The PPS with the highest number of evacuees is SJKT Jalan Haji Manan in Kluang, sheltering 202 people from Kampung Palembang.
