Firefighters called in to assist boy after bicycle rim punctures his leg

KOTA KINABALU: An 11-year-old boy was injured when a metal rod from a bicycle rim punctured his leg in Kota Belud district on Tuesday (Jan 14).

Firefighters were dispatched to Kampung Siasai after receiving the report at 5.23pm, according to a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

Medical staff from the district hospital were also present to provide assistance.

"The team proceeded to dismantle the wheel rim from the bicycle, and the victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance for an X-ray and further treatment," said the spokesman.

He added that the Department's assistance would be available if the hospital required further help to remove the metal piece.
