Avoid speculation on royal addendum, Azalina urges all parties

SHAH ALAM: All parties, especially Umno members, are urged to refrain from making any speculations on the royal addendum concerning Datuk Seri Najib Razak, as such statements could lead to sub judice.

Umno Information Chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said that in light of the Court of Appeal’s decision, the issue should be referred back to the High Court.

According to Sinar Harian, Azalina, who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), the most crucial aspect is the Court of Appeal’s acknowledgement of the royal addendum’s existence.

“On Jan 13, the High Court will hear the case management, and I urge everyone not to speculate, as the court is now carrying out its role to make a determination,” she said.

“We also don’t want the issue of sub judice. Since it is already a court case, there are many comments that I feel are unfair to all parties,” she added.

However, Azalina emphasised that the existence of the royal addendum is not related to its legality.“This isn’t about legality; it’s just an issue of existence.

“Legality is a separate issue involving legal matters. But this is an issue of existence, and I believe the court will call all parties involved in this process,” she said.

“So, I would like to ask party members to let the court make its decision after all the facts have been presented by all parties.”
